The spine…
Lower back pain accounts for 11% total disability of the UK population.
Commonly we see people with lower back pain. The section of the back we label as your lumbar spine (lower back) are the last 5 vertebrae.
These can be subject to arthritic changes, narrowing of the holes the nerves travel through, or the growth of little nodules of bone, all of which can impact the muscles, ligaments and nerves that sit close by.
Muscle spasm can lead to reduced movement and nerve pain can travel into the buttock or leg which make day to day activities challenging.
X-rays and MRI/CT scans can show detailed images of the causes. Sometimes people can have these issues without much pain and other times, there isn’t much on a scan, but people experience significant pain.
We will assess you individually and provide appropriate treatment and management to help improve symptoms.
