Strength training for women around menopause age
We run a strength training class for women who are in, or around the menopause.
Fitness Instructor Oliver Graham has personal experience of training with heavier weights so he is well placed to guide you through good technique to maximise the benefit of the movements performed.
The weight lifted is entirely individual and is based on your current ability – you will progress steadily with regular training.
Body weight, kettle bells, hand weights, hex bar and olympic bar weights are available for overall conditioning.
- Our muscle mass declines by 8-10 % per decade after the age of 30 if we do nothing.
- Bone density is impacted by a reduction in oestrogen, but improved with bone loading exercise, such as weight lifting/resistance training.
- It is never too late to start to challenge the muscle and bone structures, to improve their tolerance to load and this makes daily activities much easier.
Classes:
Tuesday and Friday 11.30-12.15pm with additional Physiotherapist led education.
